About the studio

A small print shop on the coast.

Coastal LayerWorx is a one-room studio of well-tuned printers, careful designs, and a slow, repeatable process. Everything we sell is made by the same hands that designed it.

The shop

We started in 2022 with one Prusa Mk3 and a kitchen table. Today the studio runs a fleet of Bambu, Prusa, and Voron printers, plus a Mars resin machine for fine-detail work. Each printer is tuned for the materials it prints best, so we don't compromise on finish.

Most of what we make is designed in-house. We draw inspiration from the textures of the coast: tidal ridges, dune lines, kelp, and weathered wood. The goal is to make printed parts that don't look printed — durable, considered, and at home in a real space.

What we care about

Quiet quality

Every part comes off the printer, gets inspected, and is hand-finished. If it isn't a part we'd keep, we don't ship it.

Right material for the job

A planter doesn't need carbon fiber. A boat cleat doesn't need PLA. We pick materials based on use — not what's cheap to print.

Repairable, replaceable

A real benefit of printed parts is that we can re-print one when something breaks. We keep files for everything we sell.

Coastal first

We test marine and outdoor parts where we live: in salt, sun, and surf. The catalog reflects what actually holds up.
